Check if your fixture is designed for new construction or remodeling. New construction fixtures typically come with nipples ( extensions from the canopy) to accommodate deeper junction boxes. Remodel fixtures often have shorter nipples or none at all, using adjustable clamps instead.
Check Wire Compatibility
